What is a CRNA?
CRNA is the acronym for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA) is responsible for the administration of anesthetics to patients and monitors the anesthetized patient throughout the medical procedure. In the US, nurse anesthesiologists have provided anesthesia care to patients for nearly 150 years. CRNA's account for approximately 70 percent of the anesthesia delivered in the United States and are the main providers of anesthesia in rural America, administering approximately 53 million anesthetics to patients each year. CRNA’s are the primary provider of all anesthesia in the military and in combat zones.
